About me:

Currently a PhD candidate at Arizona State University, I am interested in the intersection of history and philosophy of science, teaching and education research, and cultivating positive attitudes toward the nonhuman world. I grew up near Santa Barbara, California, in a small town tucked in the mountains. My parents encouraged me to be curious about everything, a quality that has stuck with me. As an undergraduate, I went to a tiny liberal arts college, Soka University of America, where I nominally concentrated in humanities, but even that wasn’t broad enough, and I took classes across the disciplinary board. There, I became inspired to pursue two things: more thinking about science and more travel. This led me to pursue a Master’s of Science in philosophy of science, technology, and society at University of Twente in the Netherlands. After completing my master’s, I spent six years of reconnecting with nature in my hometown and learning how to socialize in the service industry. I came back to academia in 2022 for my PhD in History and Philosophy of Science at ASU, where my interdisciplinary interests and nontraditional path have found a home.
